In moments of mental health distress, the lack of caring support and the seeming lack of resources are commonly felt. CalHOPE, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency is a Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program that seeks to provide the caring support and access to resources in moments of distress, particularly in the event of a disaster. The HOPE in CalHOPE stands for Hope, Outreach, Possibilities, and Empowerment. It offers safe, secure, and culturally sensitive emotional support for all Californians. Join us as we explore CalHOPE and the supports it offers our community.

The club and its students serve as advocates and bring valuable resources to their fellow students. Let's Talk About It July 27, 2023: Youth Mental Health First Aid - Joe Saenz, Community Service Worker, Youth and Young Adults Brawley

Youth Mental Health First Aid training teaches a model used by Mental Health First Aiders to help young people  (ages 12-18) in crisis and non-crisis situations. This tool helps assess if someone is in danger of becoming a danger to themselves or others. This tool also helps you speak and connect with the youth population, provide information and encourage seeking support.

Research suggests that LGBTQ individuals face health disparities linked to societal stigma, discrimination, and denial of civil and human rights.
