Let's Talk About It July 6, 2023: Genesight: Improving Medication Response - Dr. Luis Fong, DNP, PMHNP-BC, TMH-Psychiatry Supervisor, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

As we all know, some people don't always get full benefit from medications and some may suffer unwanted side effects for their mental health conditions, if medication was desired and warranted. Specific genetic testing can identify people who may metabolize their medicine too rapidly for it to take full effect, or be susceptible to side effects. Briefly stated, a rapid and painless cheek swab test can give results that can lead to more effective prescribing. More effective prescribing can restore and even save lives. Join us as we talk to Dr. Luis Fong, DNP of the Genesight company about how this developing medical technology is enhancing mental health outcomes in our community
